Today, we went to visit the Salpa defence line which was made during the Second World War. Its goal was to protect Finnish people from bombings or enemies attack. It’s made of half dug rocks and trenches in order to avoid tanks improvements. There are also bunkers, where Finnish soldiers could live in during the wars against Sovietic Union. We were able to visit them between slides and snowballs fights. Soldiers could be "safe" thanks to the shields, but there wasn't a lot of place because food, tools and weapons took a lot of roam. We had to be carefull to not hit the ceiling with our heads. There were also huge machine guns to fights tanks and soldiers. Now these bunkers are used for tourists but they are a good shelter for a few bats too.
The trenches are more than 40 meters from the bunkers because it's the maximal distance needed to throw a grenade (measure taken on baseball throwers).
Finally, we received candies made in Lappenrenta for our attention.
